Choosing the protective

Aegis is for strikers who need protection without feeling boxed in. The half-coverage profile preserves sightlines for counters, angle changes, and clinch work. It’s at home in boxing, Muay Thai, and Sanda gyms where rounds include pad work, technical sparring, and contact drills that demand awareness. Use it to blunt shots and head clashes while still reading jabs, kicks, and knees, when coaches emphasize control over brawling.

Unisex cut in S, M, and L with a stable, wraparound feel. Measure around the brow and occipital ridge; aim for snug without hotspots. If you’re between sizes, choose the smaller for pad work and a tighter sparring feel, or the larger if you prefer a touch more room or wear thick hair. Test with your mouthguard: shake, slip, and roll your head. It should stay planted without creeping over your eyes.

A half-coverage chassis combines reinforced padding at key strike zones with open sightlines. The padding is thick where it needs to be to take the sting out of straight shots and glancing kicks, while keeping overall bulk in check so head movement stays natural. A balanced profile helps resist twisting on contact, supporting a planted feel through combinations, clinch breaks, and entries.

After training, wipe sweat and grime with a damp cloth and mild soap, then air-dry completely out of direct heat. Do not machine wash or tumble dry. Store in a ventilated space, not zipped inside a damp bag. Within the Apollo lineup, Aegis is the half-coverage choice for visibility and awareness. If your gym asks for fuller face coverage, check Bulwark or Rampart. If you want an even more open feel, see Sentinel.
